Measure an existing ring for accurate ring sizing

  1. Select an existing ring that fits the intended finger and prepare to measure it for the perfect ring size.
  2. Trace the inside of the ring and, with a ruler, draw a line across the center of the traced circle to measure the internal diameter of the ring.
  3. Measure the line that divides the circle (internal diameter of the ring) in millimetres to determine your ring size.
  4. Use the ring size chart to the right to find your accurate ring size (diameter). This method helps ensure the perfect fit for your engagement ring or wedding ring.

Measure your finger for the perfect ring size

  1. Gather a measuring tape or cut a strip of paper to measure your finger for accurate ring sizing.
  2. Wrap the strip of paper or measuring tape around your finger, positioned where you would like your ring to rest for a comfortable fit.
  3. Make sure that the paper or measuring tape is pulled snug to your finger (the tighter, the better) to find your best ring size.
  4. Mark the spot where the paper or measuring tape meets and measure the distance in millimetres with a ruler to determine the finger circumference for accurate sizing.
  5. Use the chart below to determine your ring size (finger circumference), ensuring the perfect fit for your engagement ring or wedding ring.
Circumference (mm) 44.2 46.8 49.3 51.9 54.4 57.0 59.5 62.1 64.6 67.2 67.7

Tips + tricks for finding the perfect ring size fit

Determining your ring size should be done at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest. Fingers tend to be smaller in the morning and during cold weather, so make sure your fingers are warm before you measure. Room temperature is ideal for accurate ring sizing.

Alcohol and salt can cause your fingers to swell, so refrain from measuring them after cocktails and salty foods to ensure the most accurate finger circumference measurement.

Your ring should fit snugly at the base of your finger, but not be loose enough to slide over your knuckle. It should move comfortably on and off over your knuckle. If your knuckle is significantly larger than the base of your finger, measure both the base of your finger and your knuckle, then select the ring size in between the two for the best fit.

If you are between ring sizes, please let us know so we can ensure a perfect fit for your engagement ring or wedding ring. Thicker rings generally feel tighter than thinner ones, so you may want to choose a size up when selecting a thicker band for a comfortable fit.

If you are purchasing our custom jewellery for someone other than yourself, the best way to determine their ring size is to borrow a ring from the recipient (for the intended finger) and make a measurement using the ring to determine the correct size.
